What it is

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide — fifteen amino acids — corresponding to a partial sequence of a protein identified in human gastric juice. It is among the most frequently cited compounds in the preclinical tissue-repair literature, where it has been investigated in models of tendon, muscle and gastrointestinal injury.

Gastric stability, and why it matters here

Most peptides are cleaved by gastric and intestinal proteases before they can be absorbed. That is the reason the overwhelming majority of research peptides are supplied as lyophilized powder for reconstitution rather than in an oral format.

BPC-157 is the exception the literature keeps returning to: it is repeatedly described as stable in human gastric juice. This is a property of this specific sequence and does not generalise to peptides as a class — a distinction worth keeping in mind when comparing oral presentations across compounds.

Forms

Because of that stability, BPC-157 is supplied both as a lyophilized vial for reconstitution and as an oral capsule. The two are the same compound; they differ in handling, dosing granularity and storage, not in identity.
